Who's Who

Mary Ann has been with Interfaith Caregivers since 1997 when the founding director, Lisa Carmalt hired her as a part time Coordinator of Volunteers.  At the time,  West Trenton Presbyterian Church donated office space and there were about a dozen congregations that belonged to this network. Since then, ICT has grown to 26 congregations and is currently residing at Bethel Seventh Day Adventist Church in the Hillcrest section of Trenton

Mary Ann has a BA in English, with a minor in Secondary Education from The Catholic University of America and an MA in Liberal Education from St. John's College, Annapolis, Md. She is an active member of her church, St. Gregory the Great, in Hamilton Sq., which participates with ICT, serving homebound elderly and disabled people through the "Helping Hands" ministry. She served as the president of  Mercer County DOVIA (Directors of Volunteers in Agencies) from 2002-2004.

"It is a privilege to work with the Board, our clergy members, community organizations, volunteers and seniors who share the vision of helping seniors to remain independent in their homes through "friendly neighbor"  assistance.

Our faith based organization consists of volunteers from 26 congregations and community organizations who bring joy and enthusiasm to their neighbors in need because of the active expression of their faith.

Beverly has an extensive background in secretarial support from working in England for the BBC, to the State of New Jersey as a stenographer, and most recently at Lutheran Social Ministries of New Jersey.  Because of this, she has an understanding of non-profit organizations and seeks to utilize her skills at Interfaith Caregivers.

A faithful member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Beverly has worked with an intergeneration program, connecting teenagers with senior members of her church.  She has also taught Sunday School and tutored high school students.

“Having lived with and taken care of my mother, aunt and uncles, I truly understand the need for this ministry. It’s also important that caregivers be given some time to take care of themselves and get the support they need.  Interfaith Caregivers provides them with the respite they need.”
