(ICT)  an interfaith coalition, is dedicated to promoting the independence and dignity of homebound elderly and people with disabilities by matching them with caring volunteers who assist with the tasks of everyday life. Located in Mercer County,  ICT helps to reduce the loneliness and isolation that often accompanies old age and disabilities.  We accomplish this mission by strengthening the existing outreach ministries of congregations while also linking them with the network of community health care and social service organizations.  Interfaith Caregivers helps recruit, train and match volunteers who provide non-medical support services to homebound individuals free of charge. Interfaith Caregivers sponsors workshops and seminars to increase awareness of local resources and develop skills in serving seniors and people with disabilities. Interfaith Caregivers was founded by the Trenton Ecumenical Area Ministry (TEAM) in 1994, with a one time "Faith in Action" seed grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. ICT is a independent non-profit organization serving Mercer County including: Trenton, Hamilton, Lawrenceville, Ewing, Bordentown, Robbinsville, Hopewell and Pennington. .  Faith in Action is the national program by which all of the care giving agencies from across the country are linked together.  The national program office can be reached at 1-877-324-8411 or  www.fiavolunteers.org. Our office is located in space donated by Bethel Seventh Day Adventist Church. The Mercer County Office on Aging also publishes and distributes The Link, the official newsletter of the Office on Aging. The Link is produced quarterly and carries articles of timely information on entitlements, programs, events and legislation of concern to seniors. A comprehensive Directory of Services for Mercer County Older Adults which lists an index of current services and agencies providing services to seniors and their families is also updated and distributed by this office.
