He was in private practice until 1976.  Thereafter, he worked as a Supervising Attorney in the Office of Central Appellate Research until 1981. 

He then moved to the Casino Control Commission where he remained until 2003.

Since retirement, John volunteers for Mount Carmel Guild and for the Caring Hearts group at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. 

He has served on the Board of Interfaith Caregivers Trenton since 2006 and is currently Board President.
